Portrait-style commissions are an important part of my work. I’m fascinated by the challenge of capturing someone’s likeness — the lines, expressions and small details that make a face unique. Those subtle features often say the most: the shape of a smile, the way someone looks, the familiar details that feel instantly recognisable.
My aim is always to create a true resemblance, not just in appearance but in character. I like to learn a little about the person I’m drawing — their personality, how they come across, and any accessories or habits that are part of who they are. The more reference photos and descriptions I have, the better I can understand how to bring them to life on paper.
These portraits often hold real meaning for both the person receiving them and for me as the illustrator. There’s something rewarding about turning a person’s presence and story into an image that feels genuine and personal.
